Case Study: Polk TPO Model Validation and Travel Study
Served as a sub consultant. Provided support to Prime Consultant PBSJ in the sub-tasks areas of 2.1
Public Involvement Plan in developing a sub-area study to address need(s) for transportationimprovements to serve east-west travel in central Polk County for the identified area bounded by US17/92to the north and SR 60 to the south.
It also addressed the travel demand associated with the followingcorridors: Thompson Nursery Rd/Eagle Lake Loop Rd, Rifle Range Rd/ Snively Avenue; SR 540(Winter Lake Rd), Extension; SR 60 and SR 60A (Van Fleet Drive); SR 542; SR 544 and US
17/92 and in the area of 2.2 Public Involvement Process in the development of the 2030Long RangeTransportation Plan Update. BRG’s responsibilities included:
• Researched regarding sociocultural and economic effects on the targeted areas
• Community Profiles
• Public Involvement Approaches for the targeted communities of Wahneta, Eloise, Inwood, FlorenceVilla,
Cypress Gardens Blvd, Cypress Gardens Business/ Garden Grove, Thompson Nursery Road/EloiseLoop Road
• Develop project Fact Sheets
• Focus Groups (Florence Villa, Wahneta, Snively/Eloise, and Inwood).
• Identify and recruit focus groups participants
• Community Outreach Events (Eagle Ridge Mall & Winter Haven Citrus Bldg)
